Every year it happens. New Year resolutions. I am sure you all have some. Don't get me wrong, so do I. I just hate the expression "new year, new me" because guess what? It isn't a new you!
In this social media driven world, it is so easy to post and "create" your perfect world. "Started the day off with a jog"- but you took the picture in your yard. "Healthy meal!" - but you left out the ice cream you had for dessert. " Best hubby ever"- except you each go to sleep at night staring at your phones instead of each other.
I am not saying DON'T POST. I love seeing my friends and their success. Businesses, marriage, babies, travels, and everything else. All I am saying is to be truthful. "Look at the adorable art project my kids made." "Oh and they also made a f#&!ing mess." "Guess what? I couldn't run a mile BUT I walked it and that's progress!"
Whatever your presence is on social media, someone is watching you, someone is comparing themselves to you, and someone admires you. Show them the whole truth.
It's a new year but it's not a new you. Bring the "old" you into 2020. The old you has learned. The old you has gone through things that have shaped you. The old you can help you learn how to be a BETTER you. You don't need to be a new you because you are enough!
Cheers to 2020! Cheers to a year of growth, accepting the good and bad, and learning that "new" isn't always better.
